About Our Farm

We started Tiptoe Acres in 2017 for our children. We have three sweet daughters and one amazing son (all 4 currently under 5yrs). We wanted them to grow up playing outside and learning the value of hard work. I had raised goats as a youth and we felt like that would be the perfect start for our family farm. Our intention was to raise mixed nigerian/pygmy goats for pets but that changed quickly after we had several surprise visitors ask if we offered goat milk. What?? That’s all I could think - was goat milk really that big of a deal and in that much of a demand? Well I started researching raw goats milk and was surprised at the health benefits and nutritional value that was there. So I began to dream and plan for the day we could be a dairy farm (currently we offer milk through herdshare laws and we are hoping 2021 will see us as an official grade A dairy). We did a huge herd purge and switched out all of our goats for registered Nigerian or Pygmy. For a while we ran two herds - nigerians with the intent to milk and pygmy’s with the intent to show. After two years we adopted an amazing mentor’s motto “it costs the same to feed an amazing goat as it does a cheap quality one. So only breed and keep the amazing ones” and we once again shifted our focus. We decided that two herds with different needs was too much to keep up on and while we love pygmy’s for their stocky build - we love the nigerian’s for their dorky personalities, wild colors, and creamy milk. So in January of 2019 we sold our pygmy herd and began our journey of producing the best balanced Nigerian dwarfs. Our goal is to make sure that every goat that leaves our farm has the ability to make a great show goat. milker, and/or family pet. Following this new goal I made a drive to Washington in the spring of 2019 for some Elite, Superior Genetics, Grand Champion, over 1,000lbs milk lines. I brought home 2 amazing does and 2 equally impressive bucks. We are so excited to be participating in DHI and Linear Appraisal this year and attending our 3rd and 4th shows. We love mentoring and sharing our love and knowledge of goats with any who are interested.
